Board Meeting Minutes, July 23, 2009 Print E-mail

                                      Grangeville Centennial Library Board Meeting

July 23,2009

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Dave Rauzi, president. A motion was made to amend the agenda to add an executive session to review applications for Library Director. The motion passed.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as corrected.

Old Business:

Circulation and budget figure reports: Linda noted that the June circulation numbers increased because of the summer reading program. The yearly figures for ILL has really grown and more people are comfortable using that program. Total circulation numbers are comparable to last year.Linda pointed out that in the budget report "other expenses" included money for the glass desk top and summer reading costs. In reviewing the proposed budget, the increase in Capital Outlay-Books reflects the loss of the Memorial Fund. A motion was made and passed to recommend the proposed budget and send it to the City Council for approval.

Summer Reading Update.

211 children signed up this year compared to 193 last year. There were 49 sponsors this year donating $778 +prizes. Britney Brooks, working at the library from a Job Service program, designed the activities and taught over 23 programs with a total attendance of 592 children. The celebration program is scheduled for July 30 at Lions Park. Summer Reading would not be possible without the volunteers who worked over 7 hours a day Linda noted.

Grant Status:

The library has been awarded a$1500 grant from Wells Fargo and $500 from U.S. Bank to be used for children's programs.

A motion was made that the board go into executive session  according to Section 67-2345(a) to review and discuss applications for the position of Library Director. The motion passed.

The meeting adjourned at 7:13.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be September 24,2009 at 6:00.
