Board Meeting Minutes, January 22, 2009 Print E-mail
Grangeville Centennial Library Board Meeting
January 22, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Dave Rauzi, president.

It was moved (Joan Hall) and seconded (Carol Kinzer) to accept the minutes of the November meeting. Motion passed.

Officers for 2009 were nominated as follows: Dave Rauzi, president; Carol Kinzer, vice president; Judy Wayenberg, secretary. It was moved (Shirley Lane) and seconded (Joan) to unanimously accept the slate of officers as nominated. Motion carried.

Unfinished Business:

Linda presented the circulation report. She has included children’s programs and their attendance in the regular circulation report. It was noted on the six year circulation comparison that circulation has increased especially in the area of interlibrary loans.

The budget report was presented. We can expect a shortfall of $140 due to lack of investment revenue. This should not be a problem as we can make up the difference somewhere in the budget.

The story hour is doing well. The average attendance has been eight children so the time slot seems to be good.

Linda has applied for the E-Rate on Form 471. If approved there will be a 70% rebate in the amount of $329.75 on the library telephone bill.

The theme for the summer reading program is “Be Creative”. Dates will be
June 15- July 24. Supplies have been ordered. Part of the program will be craft projects and a music program. Linda will make school visits this spring to garner interest and present the children with plastic kazoos.

New Business:

There is a new policy on collecting overdue items and fines. Patrons who owe $25 or more are receiving certified letters stating that if their fines are not taken care of it will be turned over to a collection agency. Then if it is not paid it is reported to the credit bureau.

Linda has completed and filed the annual report to the state.

A new open/closed sign in the front window was donated by Lisa Davis and Linda Ruthruff.

Jump Start for the kindergarten is planned for this year. It is likely, however, that the funding for it will be cut next year.

Our next board meeting will be March 26.

Meeting adjourned at 6:50.
