Grangeville Centennial Library Board Meeting January 28, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m. by Carol Kinzer, vice-president.
Minutes of the November meeting were approved.
Unfinished Business:
Dave Rauzi was approved for a new 5 year term on the board. Officers for the new year will be selected at the March board meeting.
New Business:
Edie discussed the budget. The new fiscal year began in October. Under the old budget the library was allotted $66,370.00 and spent $60,407.76. There was a question about whether the library spent all of the memorial money. Edie will ask Tonya.
Edie presented the circulation report. The library gets a lot of use. The Board felt that there are more people using the library because of the poor economy and lack of money to spend on personal books and other library items.
Linda Ruthruff, former librarian, came to the library and helped Edie with State Reports and the E-rate which must be filed.
Edie has written a $5,000 grant to the Idaho Community Foundation and is checking on grants to Sterling Savings and Grangeville Arts. There are other grants that Edie will investigate also.
To help promote the library, we could write a newspaper article about who is reading what. Also under consideration is an ad for the library that would tell things the library can do for library users. That would be a way of possibly getting new patrons.
Edie mentioned that we can always use more volunteers.
Dr. Suess’s birthday is the week of March 2-10. Rachel Foster is going to read for 3 hours for the event.
Our next board meeting will be March 25, 5:00 P.M.
Meeting adjourned at 5:45.
