The Grangeville Police Department is making application under the Edward Byrne Memorial (Justice Assistance Grant). This grant is requesting funding for Alco sensors, flashlights, drug interdiction and other general law enforcement equipment. If any citizens of Idaho County wish to view the full application and/or make comment on the proposed use of these funds, please contact Tonya Kennedy, City Clerk-Treasurer at 208-983-2851. |

Wayne Sedam Obituary |

Wayne C. Sedam, May 23, 1942 – December 7, 2009. Wayne passed peacefully on December 7, 2009. He had been fighting squamous cell carcinoma. Although Wayne was a very serious and stern man, he had a very big heart and was always willing to lend a hand when needed. Wayne served in the United States Navy for twenty years. He fought in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Navy, he went to serve his community as a police officer and chief of police of both Ferndale, Califoria and Grangeville, Idaho.  He was very dedicated to his job. He loved to collect guns, to fish and hunt, to build, and to care for his horses on his beloved ranch. Wayne loved everything John Wayne. He is survived by his wife Joan Sedam and son Justin Erickson, his daughter Lisa Van Horn and family, and his son Mike Sedam and wife Cory. A memorial service will be held at the Grangeville Christian Church on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 2:00 pm. |

Chief Sedam died Monday, December 7, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center from cancer. Sedam was hired as Police Chief in 1995 and managed five full time officers and a part time ordinance officer.  A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Grangeville Christian Church with Pastor Harold Gott officiating. |
